UST Strike In N’Djamena, Hospitals Close

N’DJAMENA–Following the announcement of a universal strike by the Union of Unions of workers in Chad, or UST, hospitals in N’Djamena were closed on Monday.

At the Union hospitals and other health centers across the town, operations are at a standstill, as doctors and hospital workers strike to protest non-compliance by the government regarding a social pact agreed upon by the parties. “Dry” strikes by the UST follow a recent call for strikes by the SYNTASS, a national union of health and social workers.
