Several injured after protest against bad prison food

The prison in Klessoum, just south of N’Djamena, was surrounded by security forces today after a protest broke out this morning. The prisoners were said to be protesting the bad food in the prison. According to reports, the prisoners calmed after several warning shots, but the same source claims that several prisoners were taken to the hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. The government has not yet provided any details regarding the cause of the protest or the number of injuries.
This protest comes less than a week after a protest by the prisoners of war from FACT, the rebel group that invaded the country earlier this year. According to the CTDDH (The Chadian Convention for the Defense of Human Rights), the prisoners of war had been robbed of their goods in previous searches and were objecting to another search. There have been multiple allegations of mistreatment and even murder of the prisoners of war belonging to the Front for Alternance and Concord in Chad, also known as FACT.
