47 political opponents imprisoned for “rebellion” in Cameroon

Forty-seven members of Maurice Kamto’s political party, Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) were sentenced to prison on Monday. The activists were sentenced for planning protests, an action the government of Cameroon has characterized as rebellion. Over 100 activists are still being detained for participating in protests last year.
