Explosions heard near American embassy in N’Djamena, Chad

Tear gas was most likely fired this morning in the area near the embassy of the United States of America not far from Chagoua circle. Around 6:10 local time 5-10 explosions were heard and a crowd was seen gathering at a safe distance from the main road, according to reports. Due to the current political situation the explosions were likely tear gas being fired in response to a protest or gathering, although other causes are also possible.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation and post updates as possible.
