Amtiman Enters The Seasonal Isolation Due To The Barh Azoum River

The Barh Azoum river, fed by rains in South Sudan, rose suddenly this week, cutting off the village of Amtiman in the east of Chad. Amtiman, located in the Salamat province, is a large village not too far from Zakouma national park. Now that the water has risen, the village is cut off from surrounding provinces to the east. Reports indicate that the road from N’Djamena is still accessible, but as the rainy season advances it’s possible that the village could be cut off entirely.
